Program overview

Focus, grades, and time-on-task

Focus

Accelerated mathematics instruction that closes gaps and advances scholars toward algebraic thinking, conceptual understanding, and rigorous mathematical reasoning.

Grades & cohort

Grades 3–12. Each site selects its participating cohort, allowing the program to meet students exactly where they are and accelerate from there.

Time-on-task

2 hours per day during the school year and 4 hours per day during summer programming. Intensive, consistent practice drives lasting fluency.

Core components

Everything scholars need to build real math confidence

Math Accelerator is not a worksheet factory. It is a comprehensive instructional experience built on assessment, targeted fluency work, individualized support, and joyful competition.

  • Foundational skill assessment
  • Targeted addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division fluency
  • Mental math & number sense
  • Individualized and small-group instruction
  • Conceptual mathematics
  • Algebra readiness
  • Multi-step problem solving
  • Progress monitoring
  • Embedded whole-child mentoring
  • Confidence building
  • Application of mathematics in increasingly complex contexts

Off-campus Accelerated Math Academic Games Competition

The program culminates in an off-campus Accelerated Math Academic Games Competition. Scholars use healthy competition to demonstrate their growth, mathematical fluency, strategy, and problem-solving skills in front of peers, families, and educators.

  • Demonstrate mathematical fluency under pressure
  • Apply strategy and reasoning in real time
  • Celebrate growth publicly with peers and families

Fluency

Speed and accuracy with operations, exponents, square roots, and mental math.

Reasoning

Multi-step problem solving and algebraic thinking applied to increasingly complex contexts.

Whole-child mentoring

Confidence building, discourse, and progress monitoring are embedded throughout so scholars grow as learners and as young people.
